Bucheon University Opening The Future Institute of International Affairs
To be eligible to apply, you must have one of the followings:
- A recognised secondary (high school) qualification
- A higher education qualification than the high school qualification
- An equivalent qualification to the high school qualification
※ It will take about a month to get a visa after applying for a course. And the time how long it takes to obtain the visa is all different based on the nationalities.
Therefore, it must be checked in advance from the immigration office that is in your residence.
※ The documents that are submitted will not be returned.
1. A copy of the application form (Download from the homepage of the Institute of International Affairs)
2. The original of a recognised education qualification (high school or higher education)
※The meaning of the original is a document originally from schools, banks, government offices ect. and a copy of the original (or notarial deed) is not accepted.
※If the original certificate of graduation can not be submitted, the notarized copy from the Embassy or the original of Apostille must be submitted.
※If the document is not written in Korean, English, Chinese, or Japanese, then both of the original and the translated document in one of these 4 languages must be submitted.
※How to notarize the certificate of graduation for Chinese nationality
3. A copy of a transcript from the final school
4. A financial proof document that proves an applicant or parents possess more than USD 9,000.
※If the parents’ financial proof document is submitted, one of the documents below need to be submitted also.
- A copy of parents’ proof of employment, a copy of the annual income certificate, or a copy of parents’ business license
① The expiry date of deposit: Expiry date must remain more than 6 months from the date of registration (The bank account must be frozen)
② Write the branch of the bank, the name of the banker in charge, and the contact number
③ A financial proof document: a certificate of deposit balance(issued within 30 days)
5. The applicant’s and parents’ family relation certificate
※In case of Chines nationality, each copy of 户口本 and 居民身份证 (parents’ and the student’s)
① If the applicant and parents are not written in 户口本, then 亲属关系 is needed additionally.
② An additional document is needed to prove the fact if the parents are divorced or dead.
6. A copy of transcript of TOPIK or KLAT (not essential)
7. A copy of passport (The holders of certificate of alien registration must submit a copy of it.)
8. A photo (colored and sized 3.5cm*4.5cm)
9. Registration fee : 50,000 won (Hana Bank: 630-009241-153)
※Make a payment under the applicant’s name
※(If necessary) A document that proves that the applicant did not have any course during an uneducated period,
if he/she had the uneducated period for more than 1 year after a graduation. (ex. a copy of proof of employment, certificate of career ect.)
※Reference (need to be submitted upon request on document examination)
The original of the guarantor’s proof of employment, or if the guarantor is running a business, submit the business license.

※All the notarized documents are valid only within a year after issued, and the financial proof document is valid only within a month (30 days) after issued.
※The general language course visa (D-4): This visa can be extended maximum 2 years (in the case of the enrollment for more than 2 semesters)
※From March 2021, overseas students will be registered automatically for national health insurance as a local member like other foreigners.
1. An applicant who passes the document examination and an interview (online)
2. An applicant who has a clear purpose for the Korean language course
3. An applicant who are eligible for the entry and issuing visa
4. An applicant who is determined as a student who has enough financial ability to pay the course fee
5. An applicant who is determined as a student who has the academic ability
- Must be paid within a week after the notification of successful applicants
- Refund will be processed based on the guidelines of th Global Language Center, Bucheon University.
※But, if a new student can not obtain visa, the fee except for the admission fee will be refunded.
1. According to the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Justice of Republic of Korea, an applicant’s admission to a school will be canceled if the language course visa is not issued.
2. The acceptance to school will be canceled if the tuition fee is not paid within the designated dates.
3. An applicant can get disadvantage or the acceptance to school will be canceled if the submitted documents are incomplete, unfaithful or counterfeit.
4. All the submitted documents are not be returned.
5. The tuition fee will be refunded according to the operating guideline of the Global Language Center, Bucheon University, if enrollment is canceled due to a private issue after the starting date of the class.
6. After the enrollment, the operating guideline of the Global Language Center, Bucheon University must be complied by students. In case of violation, a warning and expulsion can be taken action.
7. Students in the full-time Korean language course of the Global Language Center who stays in a dormitory must comply with the rules and regulations of the dormitory. In case of violation, a warning, a fine and expulsion can be taken action.
